DIY Crock Pot Parts Cleaner Test:
I read somewhere about a guy over in the UK that claimed a crock pot, and some anti freeze, could be used as an effective solvent tank to remove grease and grime from metal parts. Cylinders, heads, carbs,nuts,bolts...things like that. Well I put this DIY project to the test. I obtained a brand new Proctor Silex 4 quart crock pot(for free) and a gallon of anti freeze. I simmered my carbs for 12 hours and one of the cylinders at 8. When I came out to retrieve my carbs this morning the antifreeze was bubbling. Now wouldnt it be nice if you pulled them out and they looked polished? No such luck. But, the grime is so loose on the metal it simply wipes off with a light scrub. Works nice. Saved me at least an hour I would have spent scrubbing crevices in the sides of carbs. What does it do for dirty cylinders? It came out cleaner but there is still scrubbing involved to remove stubborn grime. It does loosen it up that's for sure. The best thing about it is that it softens up carbon and grime in the exhaust ports so they can simply be scrubbed out with little effort. Once again this saved me at least an hour of scrubbing the cylinder. Overall I think this is a great idea. It does not work miracles like an ultra sonic cleaning but, It is better than standing at a solvent tank for hours with a wire brush. I seem to think its a good idea to turn the crock pot off and let temp slowly cool down before you take a cylinder out. I didn't want to take it from a 270 degree environment straight to 30 degree garage environment by pulling it right out of the boiling solution. Use gloves, this stuff gets hot and coolant boils at a higher temp than water. Use caution, do not do this inside and don't breath the fumes. The fumes cause cancer in lab rats in california.    Update: The second cylinder was left in 24 hours. The exhaust port could be wiped out with a paper towell. Clean!
Pictures below of parts pulled from the pot. Ready to polish. Tip: Do the carbs first while the antifreeze is clean of grime to prevent contamination.

SEAT FOAM: To the best of my knowledge, I conclude that YOGA MAT (Closed cell polyethylene) is what is used on TZ250 seats. I did the research to find out because the replacement seat pad is 75 dollars. Who wants to pay 75 bucks for a butt pad? They also sell this foam for big bucks on sportbike websites. Yoga mat which is the same thing is like 10 bucks a square yard in some cases. Cut your own at a fraction of the cost. Same thing.....RZ350 LAND

  The Best Motorcycle Polish:
The title really should be the best motorcycle wax because it really does not polish anything. I am speaking of "Guitar Polish". This stuff will put a shine on your paint and plastics like you have never seen. I have tried them all, even the spray on waxes. But this stuff will make your paints glow better than showroom. And you "know this" because when you see a good polished guitar it refelcts light like a mirror. This applies when you apply it to anything on the bike. It feels like a nature oil based product but it does not feel oilly after application. It makes old plastics like new again, that goes for rubber as well. The downside is that it only lasts about a week. And it costs 5 dollars for a small bottle. You can even get "Yamaha" brand guitar polish. Describing the effects the best I can I would say its like "Armour All" (tire shine) for paints but without the oilly side affects. It rules!....RZ350 LAND
